Diana Johnson, Labour MP for Hull North

I am Hull North’s local Labour Member of Parliament. First elected in May 2005, and re-elected in May 2010, I work hard representing the Hull wards of Avenue, Beverley, University, Bransholme East, Bransholme West, Orchard Park and Greenwood, Bricknell, King’s Park and Newland. Although this website only covers a small fraction of my activity, I hope that it provides a useful insight into the nature of my work for Hull North.

Dear Editor

Thanks to all the Orchard Park residents who have so far responded to my survey asking for their views on how they want the recently announced £156 million from the Labour Government used to improve their neighbourhood.

I have received many thoughtful comments on key issues. These include the types of housing built, the balance between new homes and those to be demolished, and whether there should be a net loss of 685 council homes, as proposed by the Lib Dem Council, in a city with 13,000 on the housing waiting list.

After publishing the survey results in January, I will be meeting to discuss them with the Council and with Government Ministers. In the meantime, Orchard Park residents have until 1 January to get their completed surveys to me at the House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA.

Anyone from parts of Orchard Park directly or indirectly effected by the proposed scheme can get another copy of the survey by ringing 01482 319135; or can download it from the ‘Surveys’ section of my website at www.dianajohnson.co.uk.

Yours sincerely
