MP presents ballot demand from Orchard Park residents

Hull North MP Diana Johnson today presented the results of her recent Orchard Park Housing Scheme Survey to Hull City Council bosses.

One of the most emphatic findings of this survey was that 89% of Orchard Park residents wanted a ballot to determine whether or not the housing regeneration scheme finally goes ahead.

Today’s meeting at Hull’s Guildhall was attended by Hull City’s Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, key officials of the local authority and Diana Johnson MP.

Orchard Park residents reject loss of council housing

Orchard Park residents overwhelmingly oppose Hull City Council plans that would mean the net loss of 685 council homes in their area.

This is one of the key findings of a survey organised by Hull North MP Diana Johnson asking Orchard Park residents what they want from the £156 million of Labour Government housing investment that was announced last July.

Keeping warm in the cold snap

Hull North MP Diana Johnson today urged vulnerable families in Hull not to worry about turning up the heat as the Government pays out millions in Cold Weather Payments.

Around £200 million in payments has been racked up so far this winter, with just over £70 million of this over the freezing New Year’s weekend.

Diana Johnson MP said; "As the severe cold weather continues, I don’t want vulnerable people to feel left in the cold. I especially want the elderly to know that extra help is on the way.
