Hull MP asks Government why it takes Eton to be hit before flooded Hull homes get help

Hull North MP Diana Johnson has asked why it has taken two months for Ministers to announce financial help for Hull households flooded last December.

Diana Johnson MP asked the Lib Dem Flood Minister, Dan Rogerson MP: "I welcome the £5,000 that's been announced to households that have flooded and I understand that it will be available to households that flooded in Hull during the tidal surge in December. But can the Minister explain to people in Hull why it's taken two months for that announcement to be made and only after the playing fields of Eton have flooded?"

An estimated 150 Hull homes were flooded in the East Coast tidal surge on 6 December 2013.

The exchange happened today (Thursday 13 February) in the House of Commons.
