Hull North MP Diana Johnson has commented on the result of yesterday's US Presidential Election.
Hull North MP Diana Johnson said: “The USA has been the UK’s closest ally over the past century. Although the reasons for Trump’s victory will be pored over for months to come, the most pressing concern is what it will mean for the defence and security of Western Europe and progress on global challenges like climate change. It also has wider implications for attempts to resolve the situation in Syria and the role of Russia in the world.
“It’s incredibly sad that the USA missed the historic opportunity to elect as their first woman President the most qualified Presidential candidate ever. Hillary Clinton was supremely qualified for the role, but sadly better qualified women often do not prevail.”
