Hull MP slams fall in prosecutions of child sex abusers under Coalition

Hull North MP Diana Johnson today asked the Prime Minister about the fall in prosecutions since 2010 of those sexually exploiting children - as police funding has been cut. This follows the Prime Minister yesterday designating child sexual abuse as a “national threat”.Diana Johnson MP said: “Yesterday the Prime Minister rightly designated child sexual exploitation as a national threat.“Sadly, the police are receiving more reports of abuse than ever before – but there are fewer investigations and prosecutions than in 2010/11.“In this time, 16,000 police officers have been cut. How can it be right to cut a further 1,100 next year?”The exchange took place today in Prime Minister’s Questions today (Wednesday 4 March) at 12.20pm.
