Shadow Policing Minister listens to challenges facing Hull policing

Labour Shadow Policing Minister Jack Dromey MP came to Hull and, with Hull North's MP Diana Johnson, visited Clough Road Police Station.

They met senior police representatives and the Humberside Police Federation to discuss the challenges facing local policing.

Hull North MP Diana Johnson said: "It was great to show Jack Dromey, Shadow Policing Minister, some of the innovative work going on in Hull.

"But Jack also heard about the challenges Hull police face after the Coalition's 20% budget cut has left them with the lowest number of frontline police in 35 years - since 1979. This was despite Lib Dems, in full knowledge of the deficit, promising 5,000 more police in 2010. We now have 10,000 fewer, with more cuts to come"
