Diana Johnson, Labour MP for Hull North

I am Hull North’s local Labour Member of Parliament. Elected in May 2005, I work hard representing the Hull wards of Avenue, Beverley, University, Bransholme East, Bransholme West, Orchard Park and Greenwood, Bricknell, King’s Park and Newland. Although this website only covers a small fraction of my activity, I hope that it provides a useful insight into the nature of my work for Hull North.

Can I Have a Postal Vote?

Yes, anyone can have a postal vote and you do not have to give a reason. Many people lead such busy lives, why not apply for a postal vote so you don't have to worry about voting on the day? For more information, telephone the Electoral Services Office at the City Council on 01482 613 069, alternatively you can download a form by clicking http://www.hullcc.gov.uk/pls/portal/docs/PAGE/HOME/COUNCIL%20GOVERNMENT%20AND%20DEMOCRACY/ELECTIONS%20AND%20VOTING/VOTING/POSTAL%20VOTING/POSTAL_APP2_0.PDF.

What if I am out of the country on Election Day?

You can apply for a proxy vote. Proxy voting is another way of casting your vote during an election, and enables you to appoint a person to vote on your behalf. The appointed person can vote on your behalf in two ways; by going to the polling station itself or by post known as a “postal proxy”. For more information, telephone the Electoral services Office at the City Council on 01482 613069.
