Local policing

Local policing

Over the past five years we have lost 444 officers and police numbers are now at their lowest level since 1979. It's no surprise then, that our police force has recently been judged to be ‘inadequate’ by the Government's own watchdog.

I have been a vocal critic of these cuts and, working with you, have campaigned tirelessly to stop them. On your behalf I have asked questions in Parliament, challenged the Prime Minister, conducted resident surveys and presented our petitions in Parliament.

Finally we have got somewhere.

Christmas message from Diana

At the end of another busy year, I want to thank you for your help and support in 2015 and to wish you all the best for 2016.

In particular I want to thank the hundreds of people who got in touch in the last few weeks to give me their very detailed thoughts about whether the UK should participate in airstrikes in Syria. Deciding whether to launch military action is the most difficult decision an MP ever has to take and I was grateful that so many of you responded.
