Diana Johnson MP backs Hull social enterprises

Hull North MP Diana Johnson today (Friday 17 November) visited Hull’s Enterprise Week event at the KC Stadium. Enterprise Week aims to raise awareness of social enterprises and the impact they are having in our community. The 50,000 social enterprises in Britain are businesses working towards a double-bottom line – as well as making profits they pursue social or environmental objectives. Most of their profits go straight back into the business itself or the community they work in.

Amber wins competition to design Hull MP's Christmas card

Six-year-old Amber Bentham of Bricknell Primary School was today announced as the winner of this year's competition to design the Christmas card of Hull North MP Diana Johnson.

Amber will now be taken by Hull Trains to join Diana Johnson MP at Westminster before Christmas to deliver her winning card in person to 10 Downing Street.

The winning entry and runners-up have been selected by BBC's Look North's Peter Levy from hundreds of entries submitted by children in ten primary schools across the Hull North constituency.

Hull MP calls on police to use £80 fines for firework yobs

Hull North MP Diana Johnson has urged the police to use laws that mean yobs misusing fireworks are fined £80 on the spot.

Hull police can use Fixed Penalty Notices to deal with individuals setting off fireworks at night, youngsters caught with fireworks, and adults found with high-powered display fireworks. It is also illegal for youngsters to carry adult fireworks in a public place.
