Hull MP launches petition to upgrade local pumping station

Hull North MP Diana Johnson today joined local residents to launch a petition demanding investment in the local pumping station serving the Kingswood and Bransholme area.

After pumps at Bransholme Pumping Station broke down on 26 June, temporary pumps had to be brought in to clear the surface water flooding caused by prolonged torrential rain on 25 June. This failure, set out in Hull University’s newly-published interim report on the Hull floods, meant that the flooding of many local homes was more prolonged.

Council tax discount deadline looms for Hull flood victims

With less than a week to go before the deadline for applications, Hull North MP Diana Johnson today urged Hull’s flood victims to claim their council tax discount.

A deadline of 31 August was set recently by Hull City Council in launching its council tax discount scheme. Hull City Council has asked residents to contact 01482 300300 to register their details if they have not already received or returned the required application form.

Hull North MP to help choose Carer of the Year

Hull North MP Diana Johnson has accepted an invitation to be one of the Yorkshire judges for ITV’s Carer of the Year.

The four nominations shortlisted by Yorkshire selection panel, when they meet at Hull Carer’s Centre on 16 August, will feature in short films to be shown on ITV. Then ITV viewers will choose one nominee to go forward as ITV Yorkshire’s nomination to the nationally televised Pride of Britain Awards in October.
