Jan 23, 2008

Hull North MP Diana Johnson today announced that she will vote against an above inflation pay increase for MPs when the issue is decided in the Commons.

The Hull North MP will instead vote for a staged increase that would be worth 1.9 per cent for the year – slightly below the current rate of inflation and in line with the general Government target for public sector pay.

The reforms are intended to give the public confidence that the law is on their side if they act reasonably in using force, where;

• They acted instinctively;
• They feared for their safety or that of others, and acted based on their perception of the threat faced and the scale of that threat;
• The level of force used was not excessive or disproportionate in the circumstances as they viewed them.
