Labour gives Card Account to Post Office

Nov 13, 2008

Hull’s Post Offices received a boost today as the Labour Government awarded the contract for the Post Office Card Account (POCA) service to the Post Office.

The news will be welcomed by local Post Offices who rely on the business that POCA bring into branches through people picking up pensions or benefits through their POCA accounts. Over 27,000 people in Hull have POCA accounts.

The National Federation of Sub Post Masters had said that without POCA 3,000 more Post Offices would close.

Hull MP petitions Parliament on Lib Dem toilet cuts

Nov 03, 2008

Hull North MP Diana Johnson today petitioned Parliament with some of the names collected in a petition against cuts in public toilet provision by Hull City Council.

Despite more than a decade of Hull receiving Government grant increases above inflation, the Lib Dem controlled authority is halving the number of city centre toilet attendants to just four to save £65,000. At the same time, the Lib Dems have wasted £200,000 on new glass pod offices for the five highest paid staff in the Council.
