Hull MP welcomes Scotland ‘no’ vote and calls for more devolution to Northern England

Diana Johnson MP said: “It’s so much better for Scotland and the UK generally that our country is remaining together - not becoming economic competitors and foreigners to each other.

Diana Johnson MP was delighted to see the work of Feonic, an innovative firm based in Hull North.

The company, which originated at Hull University, has pioneered a range of invisible speaker products and is bringing manufacturing back to the UK from China by securing an order to supply its product to a partner in Japan. 

The company develops innovative and award-winning energy efficient products based upon its patented core technology, developed in Hull, that turn surfaces into speakers.

Hull MP questions future location of the UK Green Investment Bank if Scotland leaves the UK

Hull North MP Diana Johnson today asked Ministers where the UK Green Investment Bank would be located, should Scotland vote to separate from the UK in the Independence Referendum.

Speaking in Business, Innovation and Skills Questions in the House of Commons today, Diana Johnson MP said: “In asking my question, I want to make it clear that I want the Scots to remain our countrymen and women - not our competitors.

“The Government set up the Green Investment Bank in 2012 to boost investment in green technology and enterprise across the United Kingdom.

Diana meets Hull anti-slavery campaigners at Freedom Festival

Diana Johnson MP was pleased to meet up with members of Hull's Slave Free City campaign at their stand at Hull's Freedom Festival.

The Hull North MP is currently leading for the Labour Party on the Modern Slavery Bill that is currently going through its Committee Stage at the House of Commons, and trying to make amendments to strengthen the Bill.

Hull North MP raises with Prime Minister case of constituent stuck in Iraq

Hull North Labour MP Diana Johnson today asked the Prime Minister to intervene in the case of a constituent who is currently stuck in Iraq.

Speaking in Prime Minister’s Questions, Diana Johnson MP said: "My constituent Kristian Nicholson is trapped in northern Iraq unable to travel home. In the light of the threat from ISIL, will the Prime Minister look at his case and see what more can be done to expedite his return home as soon as possible, including by issuing new travel documents, if necessary?"
