Shopworker violence inquiry

The Home Affairs Select Committee has been collecting evidence on shopworker violence and abuse. We took evidence this week on the rising numbers of assaults and attacks on retail staff.

Diana gave evidence on behalf of @coopuk. She said, "I was very pleased to be able to give evidence on behalf of the Co-Op to the Home Affairs Select Committee. It was reassuring that MPs on the Committee were aware of the issues and were clearly determined to make that position better."

Stop sex trafficking

The APPG on Commercial Sexual Exploitation has launched a report on how to stop sex trafficking and sexual exploitation in the UK.

Diana said, "I'm very proud of the work the APPG has done on producing our report and website #BustTheBusinessModel. The fact that pimps, traffickers and serious organised crime making huge amounts of money from the sexual exploitation of women and girls is shameful."

My leaflet to re-elect Labour’s Keith Hunter has just arrived. Keith reminded us that,

“Humberside Police has undergone a transformation for the past 5 years that few thought was possible. To recruit over 500 extra officers, I took the tough decision and made the right appointments, creating a force that is re-connecting with our communities. I delivered what I promised.

Environmental concerns discussed

Hull North labour held an excellent discussion today with Luke Pollard MP - the Shadow Secretary of State for Health. A range of topics was discussed including  housing, farming, air, food, bees and water.

Luke Pollard said after the event, 

 

"Thank you for inviting me to speak to @HullNorthLabour tonight. Some great questions from Members. We need urgent action to decarbonise and protect nature - let’s keep focussing on genuinely building back better."

As co-chair of the All Party Parliamentary group for ‘left behind’ neighbourhoods, I am very pleased to share our most recent report on the importance of connectivity in communities. Too many of our communities do not have the access to the public transport they deserve, but this is especially worse for those left behind neighbourhoods.
