Hull MP asks for maximum public access to 'stunning' new film about World War One

Diana Johnson MP today asked in the Commons for the public to have the greatest possible access to 'They Shall Not Grow Old' - Peter Jackson's film about World War One.
On Remembrance Sunday recently BBC Two showed 'They Shall Not Grow Old', portraying conditions on the frontline in World War One using technology to enhance old black and white footage, much of it not seen before, from the Imperial War Museum archive.
The film is likely to become an educational resource for years to come if the public can access it.
Unfortunately, for rights reasons the film disappeared from the BBC I-Player after seven days rather than the more usual 30 days.
The Hull North MP asked the Leader of the House to discuss with colleagues at relevant Government Departments Defence, DCMS and Education primarily making representations to the BBC about the future availability of the film.
