Hull North MP Diana Johnson has expressed concern that £500m in defence cuts were announced by the Chancellor last week before the latest Strategic Defence and Security Review commences.
Speaking in Defence Questions in the House of Commons today, Diana Johnson MP said: "Before we'd seen any timetable for the Strategic Defence and Security Review, last week the Chancellor announced £500m worth of Defence cuts.
"So apart from our NATO commitments and the fundamental importance of keeping this nation safe, shouldn't we assess our security needs first - and then set the Budget?"
