Hull MP welcomes pioneering Hull’s new woman Bishop

Hull North MP Diana Johnson has welcomed today’s announcement that the country’s second woman bishop will be appointed in Hull.

The Hull Labour MP has been one of the most prominent Parliamentary campaigners for women bishops and was herself the first woman to be an MP in Hull.

Hull North MP Diana Johnson said: “I’m overjoyed that Revd Canon Alison White is to be the new Bishop of Hull and I look forward to working with her in Hull.

More evidence of Hull NHS crisis

New figures show 713 bed days being wasted in Hull NHS, as delayed discharges reach an all-time high.

The latest official figures for January 2015 show a dramatic increase in the number of delayed discharges from hospitals in a further sign that the NHS is going backwards under the Tories and Lib Dems.
•    In Hull the number of wasted bed days has increased by 258%, with 713 bed days wasted, as many elderly people were left stuck in hospital. In August 2010 the figure was 199.
