Hull North MP Diana Johnson has praised Ed Miliband’s pledge to modernise apprenticeships and vocational education.

In his Leader’s speech to Labour’s Conference in Manchester, Ed Miliband today promised that a Labour government would work with business to reform Britain’s system of education and apprenticeship to match the skills needed in the 21st Century.

Diana Johnson MP said: “Ed Miliband’s priority to work with business to rebuild our education and apprenticeships system is massively relevant to us in Hull.

Hull North MP Diana Johnson has welcomed plans announced by the Shadow Chancellor to get the economy moving by building 100,000 affordable new homes.

Diana Johnson said: “The Coalition’s 60% cut to social housing investment was part of the reason for the home-grown double dip recession. In Hull North the Government cancelled a £160m housing scheme to regenerate the Orchard Park Estate.
