Hull MPs to meet Health Secretary over Hull NHS

Hull MPs are to meet the Secretary of State for Health Jeremy Hunt next Tuesday afternoon (13 January).

The meeting was arranged to discuss concerns over the former Hull NHS Chief Executive Phil Morley and allegations of a bullying culture in the NHS locally that were highlighted by the Care Quality Commission last year.

It also happens at a time when local A&E services appear to be deteriorating following the Government's NHS reorganisation and MPs will be raising this issue too.

Hull A&E gets ‘sticking plaster’ funding

Hull North MP Diana Johnson has responded to news that Hull NHS A&E will get £2m of extra funding to help with pressures this Winter.

Hull North MP Diana Johnson said: "The £2m that's been announced is better than last Winter when Hull A&E didn't get a penny of the £250m that was allocated.

"Today's better news comes after I've been protesting regularly in Parliament all year about the Government's unfair treatment of Hull last Winter.

Coalition snubs Hull A&E for winter crisis cash

Hull North MP Diana Johnson will today visit the Accident and Emergency Department at Hull Royal Infirmary days after Ministers snubbed Hull for winter crisis cash.

Hull and East Yorkshire Health Trust recently bid for approximately £2m from the £250m extra funding being allocated to A&Es across the country to help relieve the increased pressures experienced during the winter months. This is part of the £500m of top-up funding for A&Es that the Prime Minister recently announced for the next two years.
