Budget 2015 - Your views

The budget last week set out what the current Coalition Government would do if they won the next General Election.

One or two bits of it I agreed with - like the commitment to finally include Hull companies in the scheme to give a grant to install super-fast broadband. This is a welcome boost for business and something I have been asking for since last year.

But on the whole I was struck by the difference between the picture painted by George Osborne and the picture I see every day when I am at my advice surgeries or out and about in Hull.

The same narrow economic focus that created our over-dependence on finance and the property bubble is also responsible for the north/south divide. We need a new strategy for regeneration.

Hull North MP Diana Johnson has slammed David Cameron’s statement in today’s Prime Minister’s Questions that he is reviewing state support for green energy.


Diana Johnson MP said: “While rejecting Labour’s energy price freeze, which he could introduce now, the Prime Minister now threatens to cut support for renewable energy.
