Hull MP welcomes pioneering Hull’s new woman Bishop

Hull North MP Diana Johnson has welcomed today's announcement that the country's second woman bishop will be appointed in Hull.

The Hull Labour MP has been one of the most prominent Parliamentary campaigners for women bishops and was herself the first woman to be an MP in Hull.

Hull North MP Diana Johnson said: "I'm overjoyed that Revd Canon Alison White is to be the new Bishop of Hull and I look forward to working with her in Hull.

Hull North Labour members reselect Diana Johnson MP

Hull North Labour Party has reselected Diana Johnson to be Labour's Candidate for Hull North at the 2015 General Election.


Chair of Hull North Labour Party Colin Livett said: "All Hull North Labour members have recently had the opportunity to say whether they want a change of Labour Parliamentary candidate for the 2015 General Election. They have overwhelmingly endorsed Diana Johnson.


"Since first being elected in 2005, Diana has worked hard for Hull North through some very challenging years for Labour and for Hull.

Hull MP backs Commons bid to exempt panic rooms from Bedroom Tax

Hull North MP Diana Johnson is backing a Parliamentary attempt to exempt victims of domestic violence from paying the Bedroom Tax on "panic rooms" in their homes.

Safe and sanctuary rooms provide victims of domestic violence with safety from violence and harm and often have reinforced doors and windows, alarms, fire proofing and a direct line to the local police.
